Security guard Jobs in the Netherlands for EU Citizens: No Work Permit Needed (2026)

Who this page is for. You are a citizen of an EU country, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland - or you are from Ukraine and registered under temporary protection. In both cases you may take up work in the Netherlands without a work permit, and the employer files nothing for you. For EU, EEA and Swiss citizens that is free movement of workers; for Ukrainians under temporary protection it is immediate access to the labour market, currently until 4 March 2028. If you are from outside the EU and not under protection, this page is not about you - the page for foreign workers is.

Working as a security guard in the Netherlands typically involves welcoming visitors, monitoring premises through camera systems, patrolling buildings and grounds, and managing access control at reception desks or industrial sites. Employers hiring for these roles often include private security agencies, facility management companies, and local businesses that need round-the-clock protection for offices, retail spaces, or events. Your shift might require you to stay alert during quiet hours, complete incident reports, and respond calmly if an alarm goes off or a rule is broken.

To succeed in this field, you will need to communicate clearly, stay observant, and handle stressful situations with a steady approach. While many positions require basic knowledge of the local language or English to speak with the public and emergency services, expectations vary depending on the specific site you are assigned to. Take time to look at what different employers ask for regarding language skills and prior experience, and consider which type of shift and location matches your daily routine.

What is advertised right now

On 14 October 2026 our register holds 18 live security guard vacancies in the Netherlands that carry the employer's own application address. These are public adverts collected from the national job services; they are not ours and we do not stand between you and the employer.

7 security guards are already in the Workuro register. Create a free profile and we send you the live adverts in your trade, with the address to apply to, as they appear. You apply yourself; nothing about you goes anywhere unless you press a button next to one advert and ask us to send your CV.

What employers in the Netherlands tend to ask for

Registration. Register your address with the local authority once you arrive - that is the same step a national takes when moving house, and it is what unlocks a tax number and a bank account.

Pay

We do not print wages on this page. The adverts we collect do not carry them reliably, and a number we could not stand behind would be worse than none. Pay in the Netherlands is set by collective agreements in most of these trades; the employer's advert, or the union for the sector, is where the real figure is.

Nobody may charge you for this

You need no permit, so there is nothing for an agent to "arrange". If anyone asks you for money for a job in the Netherlands, for a contract, for a place in a queue or for paperwork that does not exist, walk away. Workuro is free for workers and always will be; an employer pays only if they want to open your contact details, and you can switch that off.
