Warehouse and Logistics Jobs in Sweden for Foreign Workers (2026)

Sweden's logistics map is easy to learn: Gothenburg has Scandinavia's largest port, the Jönköping-Borås area around lake Vättern is the classic national distribution heartland (roughly 80 percent of Scandinavia's population sits within a day's truck drive), and Stockholm-Mälardalen handles the capital's e-commerce. Pay is good and conditions are among Europe's best - but Sweden's work-permit rules have tightened, and you should understand them before setting your heart on it.
The hubs
- Gothenburg - port logistics, automotive supply chains (the Volvo ecosystem), and import distribution.
- Jönköping, Borås, Norrköping - the central distribution belt for retail and e-commerce.
- Stockholm-Eskilstuna-Västerås - fulfilment centres serving the capital region, including some of the Nordics' largest e-commerce warehouses.
- Öresund/Malmö - flows to and from Denmark and the continent.
The truckkort system
Swedish forklift operation runs on the truckkort, a competence card under the TLP10 curriculum agreed between employers and unions, with categories A (pallet and low-lift trucks) and B (counterbalance, reach trucks) covering most warehouse equipment. Courses take a few days and employers or staffing agencies commonly fund them. A foreign certificate is not formally valid on its own, but documented experience typically shortens the Swedish course. Reach-truck (B3) competence is the classic pay-raiser.
Pay: collective agreements, no minimum wage law
Sweden has no statutory minimum wage; the Transport and warehouse collective agreements set the floors, and most serious employers are covered. Full-time warehouse pay in 2026 typically lands somewhere around 27,000 to 32,000 kronor gross per month - very roughly 2,400 to 2,900 euros - with substantial OB-tillägg (inconvenient-hours supplements) for evenings, nights and weekends that can add hundreds of euros monthly for shift workers. Hedge these figures and check the current agreement.
Permits: the honest constraint
EU and EEA citizens work freely. For non-EU workers, Sweden historically ran one of Europe's most open employer-driven systems, but it has added a salary threshold: work permits now generally require pay of at least a set share of Sweden's median wage, a bar that full-time warehouse jobs under collective agreement may meet - but part-time or entry offers often will not. The employer must also show the job was advertised and offer terms matching collective agreements. Applications go through the Migrationsverket, employer first. In practice: a genuine full-time offer from a collectively covered logistics employer can still work; anything less probably cannot. Read how EU employer sponsorship works for the general mechanics, and never pay anyone for a job offer.
Cost of living
Stockholm housing is scarce and expensive with long rental queues; Gothenburg is tight but better; the Jönköping belt and Norrköping are genuinely affordable and sit exactly where the jobs are - a rare happy alignment.
Practical notes
- English works on most warehouse floors; Swedish accelerates permanent contracts and team-lead roles.
- Ask whether the employer has a kollektivavtal - it is the single most important question about any Swedish job.
- Winter peak plus summer-holiday cover (June to August) are the two easy entry windows.
How Swedish warehouses actually hire
The Swedish entry pattern differs from the continent. Staffing companies (bemanningsföretag) supply flexible labour, but under the staffing collective agreement their workers receive pay aligned with the client's average - one of the strongest temp-worker protections in Europe - so agency work is not the discount tier it can be elsewhere. Hiring often starts with short introductory contracts or probationary employment (provanställning, up to six months), after which permanent employment follows more or less automatically if you have performed. Union presence on warehouse floors is normal and useful: Transport and Handels representatives handle scheduling disputes and pay errors for members, and joining is standard rather than confrontational in Swedish workplace culture. One more local feature: personal numbers. Until you have a Swedish personnummer, everything from payroll to gym membership is harder, so registering with the Tax Agency immediately after arrival - possible once you have a permit or EU residence basis and a job - should be your first errand, before you even look at apartments.
