Because the low-base, high-allowance model dominates, interrogate the numbers: what is the guaranteed base salary, how are ajudas de custo calculated per day abroad, what do you earn during home weeks and holidays, and how is social security contribution calculated - allowances typically do not count toward your future pension. Ask how many weeks the international rotation really lasts and how you get home (companies differ between flying drivers home and long gaps). Request the collective agreement reference in the contract. Portuguese firms used to hiring Brazilians will answer these fluently; hesitation on the pay structure is the clearest warning sign in this market.
